The Apostle Paul strongly rebukes the churches in Galatia, because false teachers were preaching a gospel of works salvation. Relying on works of the law for salvation only condemns us, because we can't keep the law. Eternal life can only be received by trusting Jesus, who became a curse for us by taking the punishment we deserved.
