James makes it plain that favoritism should not be present in the life of the church. Showing favoritism goes directly against the royal law of scripture to "love your neighbor as yourself". We live in a society where favoritism is all around us, but within the church there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male or female for all are one in Christ Jesus.
