King Solomon begins by giving us the purpose for his writing of the book of proverbs: "to know wisdom and instruction" (v. 1). This purpose of imparting wisdom and instruction, is to lead us readers to an appropriate response of fearing the Lord, which is the beginning of all knowledge.
